I am delighted to announce that the Oregon Department of Energy (ODOE) selected CETI in a competitive process to provide technical support for a stakeholder-driven approach that will develop an energy strategy for the state over the next two years. We will be partnering with Jeremy Hargreaves of Evolved Energy Research, Elaine Hart of Moment Energy Insights, and Angela Long of Rockcress Consulting in this endeavor. We are deeply honored to have won this bid and very excited to work with the excellent ODOE team.
We also have big news on the CETI team front. Katie McNabb, our Program and Development Assistant, has decided to pursue a degree in counseling, and today is her last day with CETI. We are very sad to see her go, but grateful for all she has contributed as part of the team and excited for her as she embarks on this next chapter!
Finally, we are thrilled to welcome Jeanne Currie, who joins the team on May 6 as a Research Analyst. Jeanne has a Master of Public Administration from the University of Washington’s Evans School of Public Policy and Governance. Before joining CETI, she worked as a Policy Analyst for Seattle City Light and Communications and Development Coordinator for Spark Northwest.

Earlier this month, CETI released our Net-Zero Northwest Workforce State Analysis. This study examines impacts on buildings, transportation, electricity, and fuels sector jobs in the Northwest states – Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington – if the region were on a path to net-zero emissions.
On April 18, we hosted a webinar during which we explored the study results with a diverse group of participants representing different sectors from all four Northwest states and across the country.
We are encouraged by how much interest this work is garnering with workforce advocates, government agencies, and labor groups across the region. Explore the results.
Jamie Ptacek, our Communications Manager, is going on the road in May to talk to people in rural Washington communities about clean energy development. These meetings are part of our contract with Ross Strategic and Industrial Economics Inc. to produce a Rural Clean Energy Economics and Community Engagement Study for the state’s Department of Commerce. Community meetings will be happening in:
Dayton: Tuesday, May 14, 2024, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm – Dayton Pavilion at the Columbia County Fairgrounds (5 N Pine St, Dayton, WA 99328)
Zillah: Wednesday, May 15, 2024, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm – Zillah Civic Center (119 1st Ave, Zillah, WA 98953)
Mt. Vernon: Thursday, May 16, 2024, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm – WSU Mt Vernon Extension (16650 State Route 536, Mount Vernon, WA 98273)
If you live in one of these areas, we invite you to come share your views about clean energy in your community. More information about the project and public meetings can be found here.
