Full Steam Ahead

The summer is flying by. The CETI Team is working hard to stay on track with our many projects, as well as get into the mountains and out on the water as much as possible to appreciate what we are trying so hard to protect and preserve.

July found us digging in deeply with the Oregon Department of Energy and technical partners to collect Oregon-specific data to populate the energy pathways model that Evolved Energy Research will start running this fall for the Oregon Energy Strategy. Work also picked up considerably for the Rural Clean Energy Economics and Community Engagement Study and Report as the CETI team is drafting the report due to the Department of Commerce on September 1.

CETI is also supporting Western Washington University’s Center for Economic and Business and Research (CEBR) with research for a Washington Refinery Study for the Department of Commerce. The study examines how the economic impacts of oil refining in Washington may change as the industry adjusts to shifts in the market. We are leveraging our Net-Zero Northwest Workforce analysis to examine refinery workers' skillsets, potential alternative sectors and industries of employment, and the current and expected availability of these jobs.

In important fundraising news, we are excited to share that the McKinstry Foundation will continue to support our SCALE 2030 project with a $75,000 grant.

I hope you are enjoying these long summer days as much as we are.

Executive Director

Program Updates: New Team and New Resources

We are delighted to have two new members join our team this month.

Richa Nevatia has come on board as our summer Communications Intern. She brings a wealth of education and marketing experience and will help execute all aspects of our communications strategy.

We are also excited to welcome Elizabeth Willmott to the team as a Research Consultant. Elizabeth has served on our Advisory Council since CETI’s inception in 2017. She recently left Microsoft after eight years, where she held a variety of positions involving carbon emission reduction strategies. Elizabeth is helping CETI examine emerging decarbonization strategies and technologies and develop a decarbonization forum series we aim to produce in the fall, funding permitting.

We are also excited to share CETI’s 2024 Case Statement, which describes our past and ongoing projects. Check it out below:
