Since its founding, CETI has applied unbiased research and analysis to accelerate an equitable clean energy transition in the Northwest with a variety of different programs and projects that have helped state agencies, utilities, nonprofit organizations, businesses, and citizens understand how our region might economically reduce carbon emissions. We invite you to explore our impact in the region over the past seven years.
October found CETI and our partners, Ross Strategic and Industrial Economics, Inc., submitting the final Rural Clean Energy report to the Washington Department of Commerce. In the coming weeks, CETI will support work to brief the Washington State Joint Committee on Energy Supply, Energy Conservation, and Energy Resilience on the study’s findings.
We continue to work hard on the technical and economic underpinnings for the Oregon Department of Energy (ODOE)’s Oregon Energy Strategy. ODOE collected public comments through October 11 on alternative scenarios to inform the Oregon Energy Strategy and will now finalize which scenarios to model. ODOE meets regularly with an Advisory Group, and all meeting materials are posted on their website.
Coming up, there will be an opportunity for public comment on CETI’s technical approach for three environmental justice- and equity-focused analyses: energy wallet analysis, air quality modeling, and geospatial mapping of overlays that could be used to identify communities with environmental, resiliency, community well-being, economic, and equity vulnerabilities.
We are still accepting applications for a Deputy Director to support our mission to accelerate an equitable clean energy transition. This is an exciting opportunity to join the CETI team. Please share the job description far and wide!

The U.S. Department of Energy recently released the 2024 United States Energy & Employment Report (USEER), which provides data about national, state, and county-level energy employment from 2023.
Research Analyst Ruby Moore-Bloom dug into the data to bring us the highlights and trends in energy job growth throughout our region. She also created three cool new visualizations that help us explore the USEER data that matter to us here in the Northwest.
When we released these visualizations last week, we received a suggestion to include jobs per capita in the county map. We have since updated the visualization to include two tabs that you can toggle between to see both jobs per capita and absolute job numbers for each county. Check them out:
While interning for us this summer, Richa Nevatia created three infographics to explain what electricity is, how it is measured, how it gets from a generation facility to your house, and what it means for it to be behind-the-meter. Check them out:

This month, the Washington Department of Commerce released three new resources to help entities access state and federal funding for clean energy and climate initiatives:
Emissions accounting is foundational to understanding progress toward emissions goals, but it is also complex, with various methods deployed at the local, state, national, corporate, and global levels.
Join CETI for a webinar that will demystify methods for measuring, reporting, and verifying greenhouse gas emissions and reductions across different sectors and activities in the Northwest.
